Who we are
Our focus at Isikhungo Sabantu NPC is on empowering our community through education. We provide skills training to our members so they can get the opportunities they deserve and improve their lives for the better. With a priority on women and mothers, we believe that empowering a mother means empowering an entire village.
WHERE WE WORK
Our organisation operates primarily in Gauteng (Johannesburg) , with two satelitte officces in Kwa Zulu Natal (Durban) and Eastern Cape (eCala). Our trained staff of 25 employees work in each location reaching close to 4000 people since its inception in September 2019.
We impact the most vulnerable children by identifying fragile and poverty stricken areas. An initial assessment is conducted in these areas and together with the community and community leaders, the highest priorities to bring about transformational development are determined. An implementation programme is then crafted which impacts directly on the children and the community in which they live.
VISION
Our vision is to be the leading NPO making a meaningful and sustainable impact on the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children/youth throughout their educational journey. In advancing this vision, we empower them to reach their full potential while creating strong, thriving communities. Regarding woman stakeholders our ultimate goal for “The Girl Child” is for her to have a brighter future and to make the right decisions for a better life. This will decrease teenage pregnancy and increase educated females in under privileged communities which will allow them to improve their circumstances.
Mission
For our work to be sustainable for years to come, forming deep and lasting relationships with community members is essential. Which is why everything we do in the community is through relationships with individuals and other like-minded organisations and partners.
We are dedicated to finding the individuals who are the most vulnerable and marginalized, and who therefore have the greatest potential to change the course of their futures. We evaluate each individual as whole individuals— individuals who have intricate and specialized needs that cannot be met by a “one size fits all” mentality towards education. In this way, from the very beginning, we build a tailored programme to help each person where he or she needs it most. This is our holistic support.
